China Denies Supplying Iran Satellite Images Before Deadly Attack on US Troops
China has rejected allegations that Chinese entities provided Iran with satellite imagery of a military facility in Jordan shortly before an Iranian missile attack that killed three American soldiers.

China has rejected allegations that Chinese entities provided Iran with satellite imagery of a military facility in Jordan shortly before an Iranian missile attack that killed three American soldiers.

The allegation, reportedly published by The Wall Street Journal, concerns the July 17 Iranian missile strike on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, where US military personnel were stationed.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun dismissed the report, describing the claims as “groundless” and urging that allegations of such a nature be supported by evidence.

The report did not identify the Chinese entities allegedly involved. It also cited unnamed US officials who, according to the publication, did not directly accuse the Chinese government of supplying Iran with the satellite information.

US President Donald Trump also appeared to play down the allegation, pointing out that China and the United States conduct intelligence activities against each other.

The controversy comes as Washington and Beijing continue to manage tensions surrounding China’s relations with Iran and broader geopolitical issues.

It also comes shortly before Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to visit the White House on September 24, adding diplomatic significance to the ongoing discussions between the two countries.

China’s denial has further shifted attention to the evidence behind the satellite-imagery allegation and the extent of any involvement by Chinese commercial or government-linked entities.
